Page Background

General Education Goals/Objectives:

Students will learn the Elements of Art and how to compose and

develop visual imagery. The technical skills acquired in Water Media will enable students to apply

abstract thought processes to projects that demonstrate many levels of cognitive development. The act

of painting is a craft while the ability to transform technical information into an expressive act is a point

of personal transformation. When students are able utilize media in a way that is in the service of an

idea the ability to communicate is multiplied on many levels.

Relationship to Campus Theme:

Water Media is a liberal arts course that is part of student development

initiatives that consider the perceptual, intellectual development of each individual.

Classroom Policies:

Absolutely no cell phones in class. This is disrespectful to the instructor, fellow

classmates and the integrity of the material being presented. Foul and abusive language will not be

tolerated and you will be asked to leave. If you are ill or must miss class for any reason let the instructor

know so that you will be prepared for the next class. Every one is required to put materials away and

clean up after every class.

Student Email Policy:

Dakota College at Bottineau is increasingly dependent upon email as an official

form of communication. A student’s campus-assigned email address will be the only one recognized by

the campus for official mailings. The liability for missing or not acting upon important information

conveyed via campus email rests with the student.

Academic Integrity:

It is every student’s responsibility to do original work. Examples of visual work that

is copied from the Internet is not considered original research and will receive a failing grade.

Disabilities and Special Needs:

All efforts to accommodate students with special needs are in

accordance with university policies and ADA504 standards.
