Course Description:
English 220: Introduction to Literature
is a course which includes reading and discussion
of representative examples of poetry, drama, and fiction, with emphasis on the use of
common literary terminology.
Course Objectives:
To read and appreciate literature
To analyze genres of fiction, drama and poetry by examining their basic elements
To analyze literature using a variety of critical approaches
To discuss interpretations in class and in written essays
To examine human diversity as presented in literature
