Course Description:
Landscape Design I is an introduction to basic landscape design principles. Emphasis is placed on tool
and equipment identification and use, drawing and drafting skills, site evaluation and plant placement.
The principles and elements of design are covered in this course.
Course Objectives:
Students will:
Implement general principles of landscape graphics, proper usage of tools, graphic representation and
materials.
Utilize standard tools and materials to produce landscape graphics.
Understand general principles of landscape design such as; color, form, space, balance, focal point, and
rhythm.
Display proper use of plant materials.
Practice the proper use of hardscape materials and other non-plant materials.
Students must demonstrate good work habits such as class attendance and complete assignments on
time.
