13 | P a g e D C B S t u d e n t H a n d b o o k Student Employment Students employed by Dakota College at Bottineau are paid twice a month. The College is required to obtain certain information from student employees before they begin working. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure that they have completed the appropriate paperwork. Questions regarding employment should be directed to the Business Office. Questions specifically about the work-study program should be directed to the Financial Aid Director. Vending Machine Refunds Refunds for money lost in College vending machines will be handled on an individual basis by the Business Office. Bookstore The College bookstore, is in Thatcher Hall and is where students purchase their textbooks and class supplies. A selection of casual clothing and novelties are also available. Hours of operation are posted. Book Buy Back During finals week, the bookstore will establish a book buy back period. Dates and times will be announced in regard to when students may bring in their text books to sell. Not all books will be bought back by the bookstore and a receipt is required. Book Refunds Students may return textbooks for the current semester for a refund until the last day to add classes. The book must be presented to the bookstore within the period of time, in the current semester, prescribed by the College, and must be in the same condition as it was when purchased and a receipt is required. This book refund policy is a separate policy from "book buy back." Library Located in Thatcher Hall the DCB library is equipped with state-of- the-art technology which allows for the search of millions of titles through the computerized ODIN system. Students can use their ID cards to access library services. Hours of operation are posted on the door. Tutoring and Disability Support Services can be found here. Computer Lab Computers for student use are available in the College library. Students should be aware of and in compliance with the regulations that guide the use of these facilities. Knudson Student Center The Student Center is a multi-use facility that serves a variety of student needs. It is a place for recreational and leisure time activities. Games A pool table, ping pong table, and other games are available in the Center. Student Lounge A lounge is located in the Knudson Student Center. The lounge is used by students for study, relaxation, and for watching television. Media Room Students, faculty, staff, organizations, clubs, and committees meet in this facility. The room is a mini theatre with chair back theatre seats and large viewing screen. Dining Center Hours posted. Parking The following information about vehicles is intended to help make the campus safe and secure and to promote vehicular safety and protect pedestrian traffic. Motor Vehicles All motor vehicles operated by students on college property must display a parking permit issued by the College. Permits are valid for one academic year and purchased in the business office. It is the student's responsibility to ensure their vehicle is properly registered. If a parking permit is lost, a new one must be purchased from the Business Office. Permits are not transferable from one student to another. If a student will be operating more than one car on campus, each car must bear a permit. However, if cars are “switched” the permit may be transferred after providing updated vehicle information to the Business Office. Handicapped Parking Parking spaces around campus are denoted for handicapped parking. Students and staff are expected to respect these designations by not parking in a handicapped location unless they have a permit to do so.
