12 | P a g e D C B S t u d e n t H a n d b o o k Campus Services Student Services This division of the college exists to meet student development and out-of-class learning objectives in an effort to make a student’s college experiences successful. Student Services is located on the first floor of Thatcher Hall. Listed in this section are some of the services and procedures provided by this office. Advertising/Soliciting Organizations from outside the college community cannot use campus facilities to solicit funds from students in any profit- making venture. Also, advertising materials (other than from student clubs and organizations) posted or distributed on campus must be approved by DCB Marketing Committee. Materials not approved will be removed. Counseling Services The services of professionally certified mental health and substance abuse counselors are available to students. Counselors can be contacted individually by students via telephone. Contact information on the website under student life. Financial Aid The College, through its own resources and federal programs, attempts to meet the financial requirements of those students demonstrating financial need. Financial aid is awarded for one academic year, excluding summer. Students must complete a new application for each academic year and each summer that aid is requested. Students interested in applying for loans, grants and work-study should contact the Director of Financial Aid at 701-228-5437 for information and application material. Health Insurance Dakota College at Bottineau students may participate in the same student health plan as students at other North Dakota University System schools. Enrollment forms for the insurance program are available on the college website. Registrar The Student Services Office houses the Registrar for Dakota College at Bottineau. Following is a partial listing of the services or procedures for which this office is responsible: issuance of tran- scripts, processing of graduation applications, determining honor roll and dean’s list, and publishing the college catalog. Residential Life The college has three residence halls on campus: Gross Hall, Milligan Hall, and Mead Hall. The Residence Hall Handbook provides extensive information about residential life. Available on the website. Scholarships The Dakota College at Bottineau Logrollers, Foundation, and Alumni Association award scholarships to students on an annual basis. Application forms are made available early in the academic year for the subsequent school term and awards are made on a “rolling” basis until scholarship funds have been expended. Application forms are available on the college website. Student Health Service A student health service is maintained for the well being of students. Please see posted schedule on Student Health office door in Knutson Student Center. Veterans’ Services A representative from the Student Services Office is responsible for certifying students for veterans’ benefits. Questions regarding benefits or other veterans’ affairs can be addre ssed to this individual. Business Office/Physical Plant The Business Office, located in Thatcher Hall, is the central point on campus for all fiscal matters. The physical plant operation provides upkeep and maintenance for college ground and facilities to insure that the infrastructure is in place for a sound learning environment. The Business Office and Physical Plant also offer direct services to students in cooperation with other offices and staff. Listed in this section are some of the services and procedures in which this office is involved. ATM Located in Thatcher Hall. Facilities Reservations Groups wishing to reserve a classroom or any other facility on campus should make the necessary arrangements using the online form. Fitness Rooms Fitness rooms are located in Thatcher Hall. Free weights as well as weight machines are available in the weight room. Other exercise equipment includes stationary bicycles, ellipticals, and treadmills found in the cardio room. Gymnasium The gymnasium in Thatcher Hall is used for intramural activities and other scheduled events. Lost and Found The Business Office is the area of campus where students, staff, and visitors should inquire about lost and found items. Mail Students can mail letters and packages in the Business Office. Stamps can be purchased in the Bookstore.
