Spring 2019 Course Syllabi

Hybrid Course A hybrid course combines online, on campus, and video conferencing education. A minimum of one week per month, the instructor will be on campus and in the classroom. The other weeks, the instructor will meet the students in the classroom via video conferencing. Homework and quizzes will be turned in through the online class. ONLINE – The online classes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may log on at any time and watch recorded lectures, interact in discussions, and turn in homework assignments. On Campus – Students will meet in the classroom during your scheduled class times, the same as you would for any other on campus class. Lectures will be done in person and live via telecommunications. The teaching assistant will be in the classroom to assist the students and maintain the technology. STUDENTS ARE EXCPECTED TO BE ATTEND ALL CLASSES UNLESS ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE WITH THE UNSTRUCTOR. Why Hybrid – The hybrid courses offer a great deal of flexibility and options to the students. Lectures - With the hybrid courses, the on campus students will now have access to all of the online recorded lectures to use when needing a refresher, and studying for quizzes and tests. Homework – All homework will be turned in online. This allows for more interaction, discussions and learning while in the classroom, and makes grading easier for the instructor and students, as the students can access their grades at any time during the semester. D iscussions – Discussions will take place in class, but are also available in the online format. Attendance – Even though everything is available online, it is IMPORTANT for students to attend class. The class lectures and discussions are the most important part of the learning process in this class. Discussions are also graded. So, if you aren’t in class then you can’t participate in the discussion, and you therefore can’t get a grade. Athletes and school trips – The hybrid class is excellent for student athletes and students with other excused absences such as field trips. If a student must miss a class due to an excused absence, they can access the class online and do all of the work online that week.
