DAKOTA NURSING PROGRAM Bismarck State College • Dakota College at Bottineau • Lake Region State College • Williston State College 1 NURS 227 Syllabus - Fall 2019 COURSE: NURS 227: Clinical Applications I CREDIT HOURS: 4 Semester hours (192 lab/clinical hours) (144 hours in clinical and 48 hours in lab) (1 credit of lab/clinical course = 3 contact hours) COURSE DESCRIPTION: Participate collaboratively with members of the interdisciplinary health care team to provide safe and culturally sensitive client centered care in the lab, clinical area and simulation lab. Practice parenteral medication therapies and demonstrate professional and leadership competencies while incorporating evidence based practices and sound nursing judgment. MEETING TIME: Clinical: Please see individualized site calendars for your clinical assignments (May be scheduled for days, evenings or weekends). Lab: as scheduled by your Director for three hours per week. Students are expected to prepare for lab by completing the assignments found on Blackboard each week before lab.
