Dakota College at Bottineau Course Syllabus Course Prefix/Number/Title: HPER 210 First Aid and CPR/AED – on-campus Number of credits: 1 credit Course Description: Lecture and hands-on practice of first aid basics, CPR and AED, b ased on the latest First Aid, CPR, and AED guidelines recommended by the American Heart Association. Students receive Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED certification from the American Heart Association after demonstrating knowledge of the above topics and proper demonstration of skills. Pre-/Co-requisites: None Course Objectives: Goal: Facilitate student learning about first aid, CPR, and AED use to encourage student utilization of first aid and/or CPR/AED when needed. Objectives: At the end of the course, the student will: 1) Understand and demonstrate CPR/AED use in adults and children. 2) Understand and demonstrate CPR in infants 3) Understand and demonstrate first aid skills for a variety of emergencies. Points weighted as follows: Attendance 45% Eight quizzes/assignments 20% Written final 10% Hands-on final 25%
