Dakota College at Bottineau Course Syllabus Medical Disorders Online – AH134 16-‐week course 1 Credits: 3 Course Prefix/Number/Title : AH134 Medical Disorders Course Description : This course is designed to introduce the student to common diseases and disorders of the human body and enforces medical terminology essential for students transitioning into a medical setting. Content includes information on incidence, prevalence, risk factors, symptoms, etiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention specific to each disease/disorder and organized by body system. Pre-‐/Co-‐requisites : None Course Objectives : Upon completion of this course the student should be able to: • Discuss and understand common medical disorders of various body systems. • List signs and symptoms of common system disorders. • Identify basic tests used for aiding in diagnosis of diseases and disorders. • Identify appropriate interventions for common diseases and disorders. • Define basic terminology used in the study of human disease. • Describe how health promotion and disease prevention reduce the burden of disease.
