Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and Certificate


This major is designed for students looking for a career working in the tree care industry. Students will learn tree identification, proper tree care, disease management, pruning techniques, safe work practices, along with essential urban forest management and communication skills. Graduates typically are employed by municipal forestry departments, parks and recreation departments, or as commercial arborists. 

The diploma is a one year program, students will learn tree identification, tree care, safe work practices, disease management, pruning techniques, and urban forest management skills. Graduates typically seek employment at entry level positions with municipal forestry departments, parks and recreation departments, or as commercial arborists.


State Licensure Requirements: All DCB programs fulfill the requirements for licensure in the state of North Dakota. Please be aware that we are currently working on researching if our curriculum/degree meets licensure requirements in other states. Students seeking to pursue this degree outside of North Dakota must contact our Academic Affairs office to confirm whether the program may be licensed in the students’ home state.
