Associate of Applied Science

The paraprofessional education major prepares individuals to work with children in a variety of settings including daycare centers, preschool programs, home childcare, and schools. Students learn to plan activities that promote the physical, cognitive, social, and psychological development of children. The major has two options: a pre-school program option that focuses on education and a family childcare option that incorporates business management into the curriculum. A criminal background check is required for this program.

State Licensure Requirements: All DCB programs fulfill the requirements for licensure in the state of North Dakota. Please be aware that we are currently working on researching if our curriculum/degree meets licensure requirements in other states. Students seeking to pursue this degree outside of North Dakota must contact our Academic Affairs office to confirm whether the program may be licensed in the students’ home state.
