Clay Target Announced as Varsity Sport

Dakota College at Bottineau is excited to announce Clay Target as a new varsity sport starting this fall. Student athletes will be competing in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) competing against 13 other teams. Teams are made up from schools in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota.

DCB Hosts Field Day with TMBCI Students

Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) hosted a field day with Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indian students (TMBCI). This field day was guided by Keith Knudson, Specialty Crops Instructor. Keith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Extension and Agricultural Education, which he received from North Dakota State University. His experience in farming includes crops, forage, livestock and aquaponics production.

Dakota College Announces First DMS Graduates

Dakota College at Bottineau is excited to announce its first graduating class of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS), also as known as ultrasound, program. The following four students completed the final semester of this five-semester program this summer 2021 (listed left to right from photo attached): Gabrielle Bohl, Tara Hancock both from Minot, Mayce Brodehl from Newburg and Gregory Davis from Darien, GA.

Dakota College at Bottineau held their eighteenth annual rummage this week. Dakota College employees hold this event each year to support local community charities and service groups. The 2020 event was not held due to COVID precautions.

Practical Nurse Class Pinning Held

The Dakota Nursing program at Dakota College at Bottineau pinned Practical Nurse graduates from the Bottineau (5), Valley City (8) and Minot (22) programs last week. Dakota College at Bottineau’s practicum is a member of the Dakota Nursing Program, a consortium of community college nursing departments which work together to offer a common curriculum for a Practical Nursing Certificate and an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing.

Dakota College at Bottineau Orchard and Garden Grant Project

Dakota College at Bottineau was awarded $19,495 from the ND Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring in order to establish a community orchard on the Dakota College campus. In order to get this community orchard up and running properly, Dakota College has been working with Cody Clemenson, ND Forest Service’s Forest Stewardship Specialist, and Farm Manager Apryl Mawby. This orchard will provide the campus, community members and Dakota College students fruit, peace and tranquility while also providing education on the tree and shrub species.

Dakota College at Bottineau Offers EMT Courses

Careers in emergency medicine are growing in popularity and demand. To help meet workforce needs, Dakota College at Bottineau has partnered with Bottineau Ambulance Service to offer a series of two Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses. Both courses are scheduled from 6:30 – 10:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays during fall 2021 and spring 2022. In addition, students will be required to complete hands-on skills training during an occasional weekend

Orientation Held for 57 New Nursing Students

The Dakota Nursing program at Dakota College at Bottineau orientated 57 new students into the nursing program this week. Four new Associate in Applied Science degree seeking nursing students and 53 new Practical Nursing program students participated. The Associate Degree Nurse (AAS) prepares students to apply to write the ND State Board Examination for Registered Nurses. The Practical Nursing program prepares graduates to apply to take the ND Board of Nursing for Licensure of Practical Nurses.
