Dakota College Campus Certified As A Wildlife Habitat

The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) has certified Dakota College at Bottineau Campus as a New Wildlife Habitat Garden! “Every Certified Wildlife Habitat garden provides natural sources of food, water, cover, places to raise young, and is maintained in a sustainable way that incorporates native plants, conserves water and doesn’t rely on pesticides” (Ordonez-Lancet).

City of Minot takes a final step toward a Center for Technical Education

The City of Minot City Council unanimously approved the sub-recipient agreement with Dakota College at Bottineau (DBC) to rehabilitate, equip, and operate a Center for Career and Technical Education (CTE).
ASPIRE Program Accepting Applications

ASPIRE Program Accepting Applications

Dakota College at Bottineau’s ASPIRE program is currently taking applications for the spring 2022 semester. ASPIRE (Action and Support to Promote Inclusive Readiness Experiences) program at Dakota College at Bottineau is a partnership with North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities (NDCPD). This project is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education TPSID grant to NDCPD. It is a three-year post-secondary education program for students ages 18-21 which offers an inclusive and supportive environment for students with intellectual disabilities.

Financial Aid Available

The Dakota College at Bottineau financial aid department has been visiting local high schools in the months of October and November. Financial Aid is concentrating on helping students understand what is needed to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and helping student complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA for the 2022-2023 school year became available for submission on October 1, 2021 at studentaid.gov, the 2022-2023 FAFSA uses tax information from 2020.

DCB Ranked Among Top 75 Online Community Colleges

Dakota College at Bottineau has been ranked among the top 75 online community colleges in the country for 2021 by College Values Online. The ranking was recently published on the organization's website ranking Dakota College at Bottineau at 28 out of 75 nationally. To develop this ranking of the nation's best online community colleges, an initial pool of just over 100 accredited online community colleges ranked by Niche was considered. The top schools were prioritized by applying the site's universal ranking methodology for trade schools. In the case of a tie, the higher ranking was awarded to the more affordable online community college based on undergraduate tuition.

Community Welcome to Guest Lecture

Dr. Shubham Datta, Associate Professor of Wildlife, Biology, and Microbiology, Dakota College at Bottineau, will be giving a lecture and discussion in support of DCB’s annual book read. He will speak to the DCB campus community about his participation in research that studied a bacterial disease (Leptospirosis) in American black bears living in urban and suburban spaces in western North Carolina.
New Scholarship Available to ND Students

New Scholarship Available to ND Students

Dakota College at Bottineau is excited to share the news about a new scholarship available to North Dakota students who have taken a dual credit course from a North Dakota University System (NDUS) institution, during high school. The NDUS will award the Dual-Credit Tuition Scholarship throughout the academic year. Scholarship award amounts may be up to $750. The maximum payment will be no more than 50% of the cost of the dual-credit courses, and will be limited to the cost of tuition and fees for the semester, quarter or term the scholarship applies.

DCB Recognized as Top Online School in Healthcare Education

Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) has been named one of 2021’s best schools for online programs and courses in healthcare education by EduMed.org. Just 8 percent of U.S. post-secondary institutions earned a ranking position. EduMed.org set out in 2018 to support higher education in healthcare. Their free resource materials and expert-driven guidebooks help students find scholarships, financial aid and top degree programs in nursing, healthcare administration, public health, and dozens of other key medical and health disciplines.

DCB Holds Rake-A-Thon

Dakota College at Bottineau athletic department is offering to rake your leaves. The Ladyjack and Lumberjack teams would like to help out the community by offering yard clean-up. Each year the Jacks chose a community project to provide public service, improving community life through volunteerism by giving back to the community. Fall is here and leaves are on the ground. If you would like to have your yard cleaned up, please reach out to Coach Loucks. Donations of used rakes and trash bags are appreciated.

Pumpkins In The Park

The Entrepreneurial Center for Horticulture (ECH) at Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) has another bountiful harvest. Although in 2020 the COVID pandemic cancelled many events, ECH at DCB hosted Pumpkins in The Park as a fun event for the kids in our community while still following social distancing guidelines. It was such a hit last year that ECH is hosting again this year. ECH staff and horticulture students will be hiding around 800 mini pumpkins throughout Forestry Park. This is twice the amount hidden last year.
