Nursing Program Presence in Minot
Date Published: 8/28/24
Bottineau, ND – August 23, 2024 – Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) is excited about starting the fall semester in a new location. Thanks to Trinity Health Care, the Health Center West building will be occupied on Monday, August 26 by 15 practical nursing students and 18 associate degree nursing students. This is a strategic move from Trinity’s 5th Ave location to a more prominent and modern presence on Broadway.
DCB’s practicum is a member of the Dakota Nursing Program, a consortium of community college nursing departments that work together to offer a common curriculum for a practical nursing certificate and an associate in applied science in nursing. DCB has a unique relationship with Minot State University (MiSU). Nursing graduates also have a path of guaranteed admission into MiSU’s baccalaureate nursing program through an RN to BSN nursing agreement between the two campuses.
This move marks a significant milestone for DCB. It provides an efficient and state-of-the-art facility for educational offerings to meet the growing demand for nurse professionals in the region. Under the guidance of experienced faculty members, students receive comprehensive training. “At Trinity Health, we express congratulations to Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) for this significant growth milestone as they cater to the growing demand for nurse professionals in the region. DCB excels at providing comprehensive training and education for tomorrow’s nurses. We commend DCB’s commitment to preparing students for successful nursing careers.” John Kutch, President and CEO of Trinity Health.
One of the final steps in becoming a licensed nurse is sitting for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing’s (NCSBN) NCLEX licensing examination, which tests a nurse’s knowledge and aptitude in safe and effective care environments, health promotion and maintenance, psychosocial integrity, and physiological integrity. DCB’s students are at the top tier in the state in national licensing exam pass rates. DCB practical nurse certificate graduates (PN) posted a perfect 100 percent pass rate this spring. All student nurse graduates who took the National Council Licensure Examination passed on the first attempt after completing coursework.
The nursing program is grateful for the partnership with Trinity Health offering an updated and larger space. DCB looks forward to the future in the new location. "We are thrilled to move into the Health Center West building.” Paige Baade, Assistant Dean for Nursing and Health Professions. "This move is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality education and addressing the needs of the healthcare industry. We are committed to preparing students for rewarding careers contributing to the overall nursing job force in the region."
Applications for the nursing program are accepted in the spring of each year. Watch for new signage to identify the new location to be placed in the coming weeks. For more information about the Nursing Program and to apply, please visit www.daktoacollege.edu/healthcare.
