LeaderJacks Give to the Community
Leaderjacks tying blankets for Linus Project - Gourav Kumar (GK), Joshua Rivas-Miranda
LeaderJacks is a student leadership organization at Dakota College at Bottineau. This fall, three Team Leaders are coordinating a community food drive for the organization to support the Bottineau Food Pantry. Alexis Gullett (Bottineau), Masaya Archbold (Fort Leavenworth, Kansas) and Kirra Montrose (Nanaimo, BC) invite the campus and Bottineau to “Give what they Can” from November 3 – November 17, 2020. The items may be dropped off at the DCB Library located in Thatcher Hall.
The Team Leaders are also willing to pick the items up from homes within the community. COVID-19 protocols will be used when collecting the items. Collections will be made on Sunday, November 15 and Monday, November 16 from 5:00-7:00 pm. The Leaderjacks would like donators to call Ashely Pedie at 701-228-5615 with the pick-up information.
This is not the only way the LeaderJacks give back to the community. The students hold various ice cream float and bake sales to earn funds to assist in future projects. They recently purchased materials needed for items such as fabric to make blankets for the Linus Project. The Leaderjacks will choose charity groups within the community to donate the blankets too. School supplies were also purchased and backpacks assembled and distributed this fall to elementary students that did not have funds to buy supplies.
The group is established so students from every program on campus can be involved. The focus of the organization is to develop leadership skills through community involvement. If you have a project or event and need volunteers, please contact the LeaderJack Advisors, Ashley Pedie or Angie Bartholomay.
