Dakota College at Bottineau is pleased to announce that Duane Kabanuk has accepted the Farm Management Education instructor position for the northwest region of ND serving Stanley and surrounding areas. Dakota College has added the Northwest region to the currently served areas of Minot, Bottineau, and Rugby, ND.

The Farm Management Education program is a Career and Technical Education program that provides a practical study of the farming business for families currently engaged in managing farms or ranches. The program is unique as it actively engages farmers or beginning farmers. Farm Management Education is hands-on, using students’ own farm financial information, which remains confidential.  Active students state the program has been invaluable to the success of their farming operation.
Duane joined the Farm Management team in October.  His previous eleven years were spent working with homeowners and farmers as a claim adjuster/inspector. In 1995, Kabanuk completed a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and just a few years later passed the CPA exam and attained a North Dakota Insurance License in 2012.

The Farm Management Education program provides training in computerized record-keeping systems which help the farm family organize and maintain accurate financial records. Enrollees learn to analyze their records and determine the financial strengths and weaknesses of their farm business as well as each of their farm enterprises.

Originally from Minot, Duane continues to reside in Minot while enjoying his hobby farm alongside raising his daughter.  “In school, accounting and agriculture were my favorite subjects.” Kabanuk shares. “The farm management position will give me the chance to combine my two favorite areas of interest.”
Dakota College is excited to open a new site and to have Duane as part of the team. Farmers and ranchers interested in additional information may visit the website for contact information www.dakotacollege.edu/farmmanagement. Although Duane may visit students on their farm, Duane’s office for the Farm Management Educaiton program is located Stanley.
