Dakota College Campus Open for Fall Semester
Today, Tuesday August 25 marks the first full day of classes at Dakota College at Bottineau under what is now referred to as the “new normal”. Students participated in a welcome weekend that looked different than past years.
Beth MacDonald, Director of Admissions coordinated the welcome weekend events. DCB staff handed out face masks to all students when moving onto campus. Over the weekend they tie dyed masks, planted personal succulent plants, played in a corn hole tournament, were participants in a hypnotist presentation, block party and outdoor movie. MacDonald stated, “This weekend provided options for students to openly practice new behaviors while meeting other students. It was an ice breaker, getting comfortable in the new normal.”
“It’s great that we have the opportunity to bring students on campus, but it comes with some responsibilities,” Dr. Migler, Campus Dean said. Dr. Migler spoke to the student body on Monday about the importance of wearing face coverings and practicing healthy behaviors. Social distancing and face masks are required on campus. Students who participated in the required training on Monday received a DCB face covering. Migler states that these masks will also help show school spirit.
