Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) is excited to share that Angie Bartholomay, DCB Science Professor was awarded the 2023 "Environmental Educator of the Year" Trees Award. Nominations were received from across the state and she was recognized by the North Dakota Forest Service and North Dakota State University.
The past few years, Bartholomay has spearheaded a series of summer professional development courses called the “Natural Resource Institutes”, where educators are trained in environmental education curriculums like Project Learning Tree. This involves bringing in natural resource professionals to enrich educators’ learning, covering topics like soil health, drone technology, photography, conducting forest inventories, and conservation tree seedling production. Dr. Carmen Simone, DCB Campus Dean/CEO is appreciative of Bartholomay’s passion for her work. “No one works harder for students than Angie. She connects new concepts to the world around us, bringing these ideas to life for students. She is incredibly giving of her time. Angie is truly deserving of this recognition, and we are thrilled for her”. In addition, Bartholomay has organized many education events like the DCB Water Festival, NE Regional Science Olympiad, and many other educational opportunities for students grades K-12.
